PBS in SF (KQED) . She was hostile, and the story will call me a monster. I can’t win, so I will talk to them and be defiant. She is writing a story about the case against me. I know most of you know who I am, and I hope if the story gains traction you remember that it isn't true.

Some of them were good, but many more of them were eye-rolling .

Carry on, man. I’ve seen various reporting on things you’ve worked on and seeing the spin has been informative, because you strike me as an honest, ethical, well-grounded man, even if the cases you work may not allow that to come through. Whether or not my views always align with the side of the fight you’re working, the guy I see on Oppo is a good guy, doing things he believes in for respectable reasons. I run a repair shop for a living, so I suppose I’m an asshole by default to some, automatically distrusted though my only goal is to keep people on the road safely without unreasonable expense. I have a hard enough time with my job, I can’t imagine yours. Nobody interviews me because German cars are pieces of shit and they cost money to fix.

I’m reminded of an NPR weekend edition piece I heard maybe last year sometime, an interview with John McEnroe. I could give a shit about tennis or all the history, but my wife loves it so I follow along and have learned a lot, and have come to like Johnny Mac as an announcer, to say nothing of his history as a player. And I greatly respect NPR’s journalism. But... apropos of nothing, the host basically cornered him into saying that Serena Williams couldn’t compete with top men. He was promoting a book or something, and was asked a series of irrelevant questions to reach that end. So McEnroe gets crucified for saying women aren’t equal to men, even though what he said is objectively true, that women’s tennis players would have a hard time against men. I think he said she’d have a hard time ranking in the top 200 in men’s tennis. Admittedly that sounds low, but that was a number out of thin air to answer an unanswerable question. Serena is the greatest of all time, I have no doubt, but women’s and men’s tennis are different games, so it’s not a fair or direct comparison in either direction. It’s not a comparison that needs to be made. But a normally respectable outlet (or one correspondent, at least) forced a narrative to make a story, or so it seemed. I would hope that doesn’t happen to you, but if it does just know there are people out there who know better. There are two sides, and all that.

Actually had an article in Wired today. Certainly softer than what you’re dealing with. You would be surprised the number of times when you can shut down a bad story.
